Personal Background

I am a corporate finance professional, investor and entrepreneur, and still enjoy this fast paced business after over 35 years.

My degree in chemical engineering at University of Birmingham (UK) was complemented by a business degree from the European Business School in Germany, including exchange programmes with EBS France and Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona, to give me a broad education in engineering and business.

My first professional achievements were at the pre-eminent merchant bank S.G. Warburg in the City of London. This was followed by a period with another blue chip merchant bank, Lazard, in their German office, before being asked to join the Zurich based investment banking operation of UBS. After a post-merger integration role at Citigroup in London, I set up my own corporate finance advisory firm, then named Quadrum Partners Ltd.

During the last 24 years, I have advised on a very diverse array of corporate finance transactions, mostly in European and sometimes in Asian situations. These included mergers, acquisitions, disposals, capital acquisition and restructurings. 

As an entrepreneur, I invested into companies, assumed directorships and chaired a number of smaller companies. I co-founded and presided the Asia2Europe Association in 2006 as well as co-founded and chaired Five Elements Capital, an Advisory firm focused on resource efficiency and clean-tech, in 2007. I also spent a year in an operating role as acting CEO/CFO of a green-tech company.

I co-founded PFP Power From Plastic London, a platform company with the purpose of converting non-recyclable waste into carbon neutral power. 

As managing director of Belana Capital, a family office with a focus on socially responsible investments, I developed an impact investment strategy.  

I am serving as an expert advisor to Ispahani Advisory Ltd, London, a firm focused on advising multigenerational family businesses on strategy, governance, people, and education.  

Additional advisory roles are with a Swiss multi-family office,  the resource to energy company Carbon Technologies Group Ltd.,  and the Swiss representative, Franzen & Company, of the international midcap investment banking group, Clairfield International. 

I am a keen sportsman and love the outdoors. At my alma mater I instigated a scholarship for students from Africa.
